Skurred.

Ok, so, not really. Just a little bit of The Nervous.

Dennis and I have been together for almost three years now and my parents and the rest of my family have still not met him. But all this will be changing on Saturday when we hop on a boat to Catalina and go for a visit.

My mom is worried that I've made them out to be monsters (they're not) and that is why Dennis is nervous but that's not even close to it. In fact, I don't think he is even all that nervous really. Mostly, I am the one who is nervous. And not because I think Dennis will not measure up because even if he didn't (which isn't even a remote possibility) it doesn't even matter.

I love him.

And he makes me happier than I have ever been.

And those two things are more important that anything that my parents may or may not think of him. Thing is though? I know that I have disappointed them terribly, and I don't want their disappointment in me to spill over onto him and for him to be disappointing by proxy, if that makes any sort of sense at all.

*shrug*

GAH. I really need to stop thinking/worrying/stressing so much and just let things be.

Lazy.

Ok, so even I am tired of having to log in to this thing to look at it so Public Blog it is. I mean seriously, it's not like I'm admitting to joining a hate group or harboring fugitives in my living room. This is my LIFE for crying out loud. And it's pretty damn tame around here most of the time.

Anyways.

I am still waiting for the Bankruptcy of 2008 to get finalized so that *GASP* I can use my one remaining credit card again (assuming that after the dust settles, they still let me have it) to buy gas at the end of the month in case I run out of money.

I'm doing well on the budget thing, I haven't actually run out yet but it's bound to happen eventually and it makes me nervous to not have a Plan B to fall back on because if I can't put gas in the car, I can't get to work and if I can't get to work, I don't get paid...

*BOOM*

...and then my world would end.

In more exciting news, Dennis and I will be taking a dancing lesson tonight in honer of my birthday last week and the Ballroom Dancing competitions we like to watch on PBS. The instructor suggested that I bring a pair of heels in case we do any lifts or quick turns. Hopefully, I don't kill myself with clumsy.

Gone but not forgotten

George Carlin died today and I'm bummed out.

Honestly, he was the first comedian who really tickled my sense of what was funny and ought to be laughed at. I loved his act. And his books. And the movies he did. And his complete lack of taking any of it too seriously (at least it appeared that way).

The world is gonna be such a less entertaining place now. *sniff*

Four leaf clovers...

I am truly a lucky woman. It took damn near an eternity to get here (in the romance department anyways) but my God, how sweet it is.

First let me say that when this journey started I wasn't sure if I'd ever entirely trust anyone to *be there for me* (whatever that means exactly, but you catch my drift) and I haven't ever been sure if anyone out there would ever truly desire to support me but as soon as I almost gave right the hell up, there he was:

Ready to take on my wild and wacky world and everything that came with it with a sense of responsibility, a sense of respect and most importantly, a sense of humor.

Because seriously. No matter how responsible and respectful you are, eventually a big pile of shit will hit the fan and spray everything in a 50 mile radius with an inch and a half off poop and the only thing that will pull you thought THAT bitch is the ability to step back and laugh for a second before getting a hold of yourself and getting down to the business of cleaning it all up.

Trust me, I've seen it happen more times than I would care to remember.

But the difference between now and back then is that I won't have to go it alone, and for that?

Baby. Oh, how I love you.

Tuckered out.

Man am I tired. Regardless of the fact that I did actually get to sleep in a touch (until nearly 8 AM), smiling at all the Corvette peeps for half the day in the cashier's office tired me out and helping to move 400 cars for the second half of the day just about destroyed me. But the worst part of the whole being at work all day on my one day off this week thing?

The only car I had really hoped to get a chance to take for a spin (the 2008 Tiburon) was the only one I didn't find myself behind the wheel of even one single time.

Drat.

Almost 400 cars and nearly 3 non-stop hours of moving them. How in THE HELL does that happen? I must have driven 20 Hybrid Tahoe's alone (they are really nice, by the way) but not one damn Tiburon!

*sigh*

Things that are irritating me right this second...

In no particular order:

  1. The noisy, obnoxious kids screaming their heads off downstairs. I mean honesty, is all that racket really necessary?

  2. The "lady" who owns one of said noisy and obnoxious kids who insists upon smoking as she is doing her laundry because seriously? Nothing makes the whole washing my clothes so they smell nice and clean a complete waste of time like some sweat-hog who can't stop polluting her body for the entire five minutes it takes to fill up the washer or empty the dryer.

  3. The other sweat-hog that took it upon herself to empty my clothes from the washer so that she could use it before my clothes were even finished washing! Considering that I waited for the last one to finish her laundry before I started mine, I find that incredibly rude and classless. Not to mention a totally inconsiderate act that just added another hour onto my already pain in the ass endeavor!

  4. The itchy red rash that infiltrated my chest about a week and a half ago that won't go away. Aloe Vera helps but only for about half the day. I swear it has to be something in the air because my eating habits rarely change and I've used the same soap and detergent for most of my adult life.

  5. Work. Can someone please sign my sweetie and I up for the "do nothing all day and be rich" program? Bleh. We never seem to see each other anymore except (thankfully) on the weekends when we go to faire. And (sadly) it is only gonna get worse as summer schedule at Catalina works it's way into full swing and Dennis spends more and more time out on a boat.
GAH.

Quickly...

Being broke isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be or worth the seriously spooky feeling I've had since last week over the Finality of It All. It is DEFINITELY going to suck not having my Chevron card anymore though because the price of gas is killing me since DAMN, DO I DRIVE A LOT. I will probably put more than 300 miles on my wagon this weekend alone. Honestly, were not for the fact that the goofy little thing gets retardedly good gas mileage?

I'd probably be crying right now over the ashes over said Chevron card. *weep*

All that said though, I am not going to be one of those people I see on the news who decide where they can or cannot go based upon the price of gas. Life is too fucking short and Dennis and I have got the most wonderful of friends who happen to live nearly an hour away (not to mention how far we drive to play with them at Renaissance Faire) and I'm not going to let something as fleeting as a dollar sign dictate how much fun I am allowed to have or where I am allowed to have it, because yo.

Life is too damn short for any of THAT crazy talk.

There will ALWAYS be more money, you can bet on it and win ever time. There may not however, always be more TIME.
